What a great community you are, Pagosa Springs — 950 pounds of dog and cat food have been collected over the holidays. The food drive started before Thanksgiving and ended Dec. 18. The food will be donated by the John Paul II Catholic Church on their Wednesday Food Bank day. We’ve been told that those who received the food over Thanksgiving were very appreciative.
A big thank you to Dennis Schick and the John Paul II Catholic Church and all 12 drop-off locations: Ace Hardware, Alco, Boot Hill, Critter Outfitter, Dollar General, Family Dollar, Eagle Mountain Mercantile, Pagosa Feed, Pagosa Springs Medical Center, Town of Pagosa Springs, Parelli corporate offices, the Ross Aragon Community Center. We hope that City Market and the Archuleta County offices will reconsider and join the food drive next year.
We would also like to thank The Pagosa Springs SUN and KSUT radio for publicizing our first annual effort to feed dogs and cats that are in need. Doing so not only helps these pets but their owners as well.
Thank you from everyone at Elk Park Animal Hospital.
