Triathlon
A sincere thank you from the GECKO team to everyone that made Sunday’s inaugural off-road triathlon in Pagosa Springs possible. Special mention to the management and staff at PLPOA and PAWSD as well as the Forest Service for their cooperation and assistance throughout. Also, our many loyal and tireless GECKO volunteers who helped in planning, organizing and managing the event, and for being great ambassadors for Pagosa Springs to so many out-of-town athletes. In addition, our thanks to Tre Metzler of American West Fabrication for the Transition Bike Racks, Scott Slind of Re.Sport for donating and making the winner trophies, and to Tessie Garcia, Pagosa Springs Elementary School, for the Adobe finisher and age grouper medallions. Lastly, our local sponsors whom we couldn’t do these events without: The Hub Bike Shop, Quality Resort, Mountain Home Sound and Security, Southwest Land Alliance, Pagosa Baking Company, KWUF, The Pagosa Springs SUN, Coors, Higher Grounds Coffee and Re.Sport.
CUP
Curtains Up Pagosa! would like to thank Bill Stine for his service and guidance to our board, volunteers, performers, musicians, students and everyone else he met along the way. Bill worked as CUP president and chief volunteer for most of the past two years, helping us take our biggest “next steps” in the growth of the almost 25-year community theater/performing arts education/mentoring group. Bill helped the group focus with understanding our mission statement: “Strengthening Pagosa’s youth through the performing arts and volunteer adult mentorship.” He also encouraged a name change from “Pagosa Springs Music Boosters” to “Curtains Up Pagosa!” in order to more accurately reflect the broad expanse of services we offer and the changes we have made over the years. We will miss you, Bill, applaud you on your new adventure, and wait to welcome you back on your return.
